More Steampunk than thou [Apr. 12th, 2007|05:31 am]
demi0urgos
The single most Steampunk historical occurrence, EVER! The "Neverwas Haul" breaks down and gets towed by the "Kinetic Steamworks" 45HP tractor!

Burningman 2006

Shit like this only happens in fairy tales...or at Burningman

Yeah, that was one of the coolest things I've seen on the playa... Personally, I thought it was better than the waffle, but I'm biased. My favorite is still Apollo by day and dionisis by night.

The waffle was good on many levels and I must give them mad props for their efforts and their statement.

But, yeah, "Fucking Cool!" award goes to KSW and Neverwas

I saw both separately in passing, didn't get to play with either, and still jonzing to do both. I don't know if I'll be on the Playa this year, but I'll do my best.

Viva La Steampunk!!!

My lady fiend helped with Neverwas. I'm steampunk by proxy ;-)

Yeah, confession, I find steampunk sexy, but what do you expect? I'm an ecclectic geek, I can't help it.

P.S. At the Crucible's Fire Show Fund Raiser last year, I screwed up my ankle when I heard the roar of the steam engine full bore and the whistle blowing. I heard 'em, squealled with delight, started running in the direction of the sounds, tripped over some cables in the dark, and went down like a shot deer. The hula-hooping teddy bear on rollerblades thought he was the one who tripped me up.

So, steam is sexy...I have believed so since I was a kid infatuated with steam trains. Poking around on the net has given me freedom to unleash some ideas...

Anything that starts with a wood fire, moves to pumping pistons, and ends steam, grimy, and wet, is a good time in my book.
