Re: erm....

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. The spawn of satan shall rain fire from the heavens, cause a plague that blights the land with suffering and toil... yadda yadda yadda... but, damn it, does that mean satan SHOULDN'T have a kid? Maybe I'd...I mean he...would make a GREAT father...and after all he's been through, don't I...I mean...doesn't he deserve it?

Yes, I use my lips like this *pppppppppppbbbbbbbbbbbbbtttttttttt!* and I place them on my woman's womanly bits like this *pppppppppppppbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbttttttttt* and then, using low frequency sound vibrations, I make her see the heavens!

Anywhere with a welding shop, however, if you want one that is steam powered, look no further than http://www.steamtreehouse.com/

I did a shit ton of CNC plasma cutting for the SPTH. And by a shit ton, I am probably under estimating the weight, because metal, you know, is heavy.

Hells no! I'm a network nerd at NASA Ames.

As far as making a living doing it, no, I cannot. Metal work is a challenging trade and it really comes down to, "Can an artist make a living?"

I assure you the answer is, "money can't by happiness, but it can rent it."

However, there is a silver lining. Being a machinist is in VERY high demand. It is a skill that takes decades to cultivate, but so few Americans are picking up the trade that we're in danger of losing a craft that, literally, can and will be lost for all time.

So, if metal work is your dream, find an old fart who can no longer spin the dials on his mill, and help him. Carry the torch. Machining is the highest form of material culture.

I am in error here. Auto body work is one way to make money off of hot metal work. There are other trades in structural design that make good money with hot metal work. When you can weld with Thermite, you can get thousand dollar jobs if you still have all your fingers.
